Time for fresh thinking research reveals

New research has revealed that some fresh thinking may be needed to secure event bookings, with value for money proving the number one reason to book and dated complimentary products could be doing more harm than good.

The survey of event managers, office managers, PAs and F&B managers delved into what are the key influencers for booking meeting and conference venues, as well as pet hates. With over a third (38%) likely to book meeting spaces at least once a month, operators could boost profits in the year ahead if they can tick the boxes for value (71%), excellent service (70%) and high quality food and drink (67%).

With value the number one reason to book, the independent research from Ferrero Foodservice, lifts the lid on the all-important complimentary product as over half of the 201organisers questioned believe freebies would enhance their event.

Choosing the right complimentary product proved crucial however, with unwrapped mints getting the thumbs down for being unhygienic (51%), while a third (33%) said they looked dated. When it comes to keeping events fresh, tic tacproved the top choice for business-related events – with 93% of organisers stating they would use the brand if a venue offered it.

Speaking about the research, Zareen Deboo, foodservice channel operators manager, Ferrero UK & Ireland says: “Our survey reveals value and quality are two key influencers when it comes to booking a venue, but the devil is in the detail. This is a brilliant opportunity for venues to introduce premium complimentary products; with a third of organisers booking on a monthly basis, operators are in a great position to cash in on the demand for quality.”

Celebrating its 50th birthday this year, tic tac is the fresh way to provide complimentary mints. Each branded mini pack contains four peppermint flavoured tic tac, encased in a convenient and hygienic format.

Ideal for receptions, welcome packs and coffee breaks, tic tac will not only enhance events, but boost business and profits too.

Zareen explains: “We’ve spoken to the decision makers and little touches mean everything, organisers now demand high quality, including brands. The good news is tic tac looks great and can really create a professional image. It can benefit your bookings too, as 81% would think more highly of a venue and be more willing to re-book – making it a win-win for venues and their customers.”
