Selecta Sweden signs strategic agreement with OKQ8

Selecta, Europe’s route-based unattended self-service retailer, has signed a significant strategic agreement with OKQ8 in Sweden to offer Starbucks on the go coffee throughout the country.

The agreement will offer OKQ8, Sweden’s leading fuel supplier, access to Starbucks on the go across its fuel stations within the country, offering customers a Starbucks experience through its range of classic brewed coffees, cappuccinos, teas and other flavoured hot beverages; all guaranteed by Starbucks’ high quality and sustainability requirements.

The concept, which has previously been successfully operated by OKQ8 and Selecta in Denmark, will initially be launched in seven stations in mid-October, with a further roll-out expected from the start of 2020. By the end of Q1 2020, it’s expected that 130 stations throughout Sweden will offer Starbucks on the go to its customers.

Andreas Fetscher, head of business development at Selecta Sweden, said: “We’re delighted to offer Starbucks on the go throughout Sweden. OKQ8’s broad network of stations, recognised brand, and focus on sustainability aligns with the Starbucks concept and we’re excited to create a unique coffee experience for OKQ8’s customers.”

Fredrik Ahlengärd, head of shop and categories at OKQ8, said: “The aim of this agreement was to find a strategic partner to help us develop our coffee offering and we’re convinced that Selecta will be the right partner for us. We’ve been operating Starbucks on the go for many years in Denmark with great success and we are pleased to introduce the brand to Swedish customers.”

Headquartered in Switzerland, Selecta employs 10,000 people spanning 16 countries, and serves more than 10 million consumers a day on average through its 476,000 points of sale across Europe.
