Percol to the fore in Fairtrade Fortnight

Aimia Foods, the hot and cold drinks specialist, supported last month’s Fairtrade Fortnight by showcasing its Percol range – a 100 per cent Colombian coffee made with Fairtrade Arabica beans, designed to offer a complete solution for vending and foodservice operators. Aimia provided operators with a free point of sale kit, including Percol-branded A3 coffee posters, A3 chocolate posters, wobblers and table talkers. This kit provided operators with the tools they required to ensure Percol stood out from other brands, while educating customers of the importance of Fairtrade products.
Percol is available in a range of variants including instant freeze dried, filter and espresso coffee for food service outlets and instant freeze dried, decaffeinated and freshbrew coffee for vendors. With beans grown at altitude to increase the intensity of the flavours, the coffee justifies a higher price in both the vending and out of home sectors.
Simon Kershaw, category-marketing manager at Aimia Foods, commented: “A nationally distributed brand, Percol delivers a truly ethical pick-me-up, and has achieved no less than seven Great Taste awards since 2002. As consumers become more aware of the benefits of ethical trading, the demand for Fairtrade products continues to rise. In 2006, the retail value of Fairtrade coffee in the UK was £43.7 million; in fact 5.7 million more consumers bought Fairtrade coffee during that year alone. We know that consumers are looking to purchase goods with a recognized accreditation they can trust, and as a pioneer of Fairtrade in the UK, Percol is very proud to offer its Fairtrade certified coffee.”
