Last month, Nestlé overcame the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic to induct its full 2020 cohort and applications are now open for 2021 when the number of recruits will increase.
The Nestlé Academy supports employees through 31 different types of programme across a wide range of disciplines including data science, packaging innovation and digital marketing. A mix of interns, apprentices and graduates join Nestlé’s UK & Ireland’s 8,000 strong workforce every year to learn new skills and bring fresh thinking to all areas of the organisation.
Paul Steadman, HR director for Nestlé in the UK & Ireland said: “We are at a difficult moment for employment in general and we know, at the best of times, how daunting it can be for young people taking those first career steps.
“Despite the challenges we are all dealing with, and consistent with Nestlé UK & Ireland’s long history of supporting youth employment, we believe continuing to support youth employment is the right thing to do. Building on that, I am pleased that we are now able to increase the number of programmes that Nestlé Academy is recruiting for this time around.”
Applicants are being sought for 96 roles (up from 74) across 24 different apprenticeships, seven different graduate schemes and three internships. These programmes will see successful candidates undertake placements at Nestlé sites across the UK including its network of factories and office bases in Gatwick and York.
Additionally, Nestlé Academy is partnering with early careers network, Springpod, to boost support for youth employment when it comes to skills and employability.
Springpod helps those aged between 13 and 24 to learn about different career paths, to find and explore new opportunities and to develop the skills they’ll need to find and secure a job. The new partnership builds on Nestlé Academy’s existing employability initiatives including interview workshops and mock assessments.
Paul Steadman added: “These skills are absolutely crucial for young people as they find their feet in the world of work. Springpod’s ‘classroom to boardroom’ series earlier this year was a huge success and I’m pleased to begin this partnership to further support our next generation of leaders.”
