Custom printing from Huhtamaki can help caterers communicate new allergen laws

allergens aWith all the talk surrounding the ‘Food Information for Consumers’ (FIC) Regulation 1169/2011, which comes into force from 13th December 2014, have you considered using packaging as a way of communicating allergen information? Huhtamaki’s range of disposable food and drink packaging can not only be customised to enhance a brand’s corporate image but essential allergen information can be printed directly onto the packaging. So why not highlight exactly what is contained in the food and drinks you serve through customised packaging and place it directly in your customer’s hand?

“To help caterers comply with the change in EU food labelling laws, Huhtamaki is able to support foodservice operators who need to fulfil their responsibility to provide allergen information to consumers, with use of a bespoke custom printing service that will help notify and inform consumers of the allergens contained within the products they intend to purchase.  Our experienced Design team will work alongside customers to create customised artwork which allows specific information to be clearly, concisely and informatively incorporated within the product’s stock design,” said John Young, Huhtamaki’s UK Foodservice sales and marketing director.

The new regulations are being introduced in response to the rising number of people in the UK affected by food allergies and intolerances; and under the new regulations, food being sold non-packed or pre-packed for direct sale must provide consumers with a comprehensive ingredients listing to make it easier for people to identify ingredients they need to avoid, before purchase.

Huhtamaki manufacture an array of disposable packaging solutions, which can be customised to incorporate bespoke messaging in-line with customer needs.  Items available include a selection of paper food containers, paper hot and cold cups, food to go boxes and pizza boxes.
