Conquering Ben Nevis for bowel cancer

It’s become a bit of a tradition for Automatic Retailing Northern (ARN) to do a fundraiser each year for a chosen charity and this year the choice has been a bit of a no-brainer.

ARN spokesman Lyndsey Boutflour says: “In other years, it’s been tough deciding which one to support, but unfortunately, one of our colleagues, Hylton Nesbitt, has been diagnosed with bowel cancer, so we looked no further than Bowel Cancer UK.’

The mission is to climb Ben Nevis and Lyndsey says: “We’re inviting our customers and suppliers to join us, to help us donate some serious money.”

In the past, we’ve managed to raise a couple of thousand pounds per event. This year, with the assistance of the vending industry at large, we want to better that total.”

Rachael Bramwell, events officer at Bowel Cancer UK, is already on board. She says: “The Ben Nevis trek sounds like a fantastic challenge, and I am happy to help ARN arrange it. To arrange a bespoke trek though we need to know how many people will be taking part, and the fundraising target.”

ARN needs to confirm how many people will be involved by the end of June. The team will travel to the Highlands on October 4. The trek will be on October 5 and the return trip will be on October 6.

“If anybody is up for a fantastic weekend amongst some of the UK’s best scenery, alongside some of the UK’s best people, to make some money to help in the fight against bowel cancer, get in touch as soon as you can,” Lyndsey asks.

“We hope we can count on the industry’s support, because you never know when the Big C will strike, or who’s next in line.”
