Advice for businesses affected by coronavirus outbreak

The Automatic Vending Association (AVA) has issued some advice to members who are currently having to make, in some cases, “very difficult decisions” about their businesses.

Foremost on members’ minds has been the ‘Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme’ and how it works. Right now, many of the finer details have not yet been released by HMRC – and the support portal is not yet live. But there are still questions such as: How does it work? Who is eligible? Can I work a ‘furlough rota?”.

In the meantime – the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy details can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19/covid-19-support-for-businesses

In addition, a useful Q&A from Ashurst Law – which attempts to answer some of these questions, can be found here: https://www.ashurst.com/en/news-and-insights/insights/the-coronavirus-job-retention-scheme—qandas-for-employers/

Concerns around employer and employee rights can be found on the ACAS website:  https://www.acas.org.uk/coronavirus

The AVA intends to keep members up to date with the latest information and they are advised to keep checking https://www.the-ava.com/covid-19/
