Selecta raises €23,300 for UNICEF’s WASH project

European vending operator Selecta has raised €23,300 for UNICEF’s water project WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) to help 25,000 inhabitants of Gambia’s Upper River Region gain access to clean water. The cooperation started in summer 2009, with Selecta pledging to donate €20 to UNICEF for every one of their exclusive Seattle Water coolers sold in the UK and across Europe.

UNICEF’s WASH project and the funds raised will enable 50 communities in Gambia’s Upper River region, one of the poorest areas within the country, to enjoy safe drinking water and basic sanitation.

Jonathan Barr, Sales & Marketing Director, Selecta UK comments: “Selecta is proud to be able to support UNICEF and that the funds raised will be going to a very important project. With only 65% of the population having access to clean water, the WASH project is crucial in helping one of the least developed nations in the world have access to safe, clean water. We’d like to thank all our customers for helping us back this very worthy cause.”
