A new energy rating system, which is a development of the EVA's Energy Measurement Protocol (EVA-EMP) is on its way to becoming an official European Standard.
The European Standardisation body for electrical and electronic equipment (CENELEC) responded positively to an approach by the EVA requesting that it adopts the EVA-EMP 2.0 as an official standard.
This is lengthy process, which could take as long a three years, depending upon the degree of agreement between the national standardisation bodies which constitute CENELEC.
Meanwhile, the EVA has already received declarations for N & W Global Vending and FAS equipment. Says Catherine Piana: " We look forward to many more following and encourage members to use the rating system, as green procurement is becoming increasingly widespread"
