During the summer Anglian Water discovered raised levels of Cryptosporidium - the water-borne parasite which can cause acute diarrhoea - in water from its treatment works in Northamptonshire. A ‘boil water' notice was imposed on NN postcodes, leaving a large number of Mars Drinks' vending system customers to deal with potential health issues.
Within five days, Mars Drinks' Technical Support Engineers had proactively serviced almost 200 beverage vending machines, in order to sanitise and flush any affected units.
This response was rapid and effective. Anticipating customers' needs, Mars Drinks set up a dedicated customer service team to contact all customers in the affected postcodes. The team talked each user through the precautions necessary according to their machine combinations and identified 200 machines that would need servicing once Anglian Water issued an all-clear.
Within hours of the ban being lifted, six dedicated Mars Drinks' Technical Support Engineers set off across the Northamptonshire area to sanitise and flush the affected machines. Within two days they had serviced over 50 per cent of them - a quick, effective and reliable response that customers greatly appreciated.
Stuart Bonner, Group Facilities Manager for Northampton Police remarked: "The water problem was addressed quickly, and the follow-up service in getting the machines up and running again was very good, demonstrating a high level of professionalism"
Alaster Siddle, National Account Manager, for Mars Drinks said: "Our quick and proactive response to the Cryptosporidium alert shows just how seriously we take customer support. The fact that we were able to respond so quickly to the issue is down to our dedicated Customer Service Agents based in Basingstoke being able to co-ordinate with our on-the-ground response."
