Huhtamaki's newly-launched bio-coated paper cup for hot, cold and vended drinks (VI March 2008) has scooped the 'Disposables' category of the Caterer and Hotelkeeper Equipment & Supplies Excellence Awards 2008.
The increasing demand for sustainable products led the company to develop its vending range, and the new cup is completely compostable and can be customised - a useful promotional tool.
The new bio-coated cups use materials from sustainably managed forests (which can be tracked back to their origins). Thanks to the innovative bio-coating, the product can be composted in industrial composting facilities. The entire chain, from raw material input to production and disposal, has been designed to have a minimal impact on the environment.
