Innovation is second nature

With the Virtu and Siro Touch single cup coffee brewers both featuring full colour touch screens, Dutch machine manufacturer de Jong DUKE again confirmed their leading position in the Office Coffee Service market. The machines stand out with regards to quality drinks, touch screen display, dynamic advertising possibilities and ease of use. The Virtu and Siro Touch are the result of more than 50 years of experience, hard work and a visionary approach to a changing and inspiring market.

Authenticity & Drive

De Jong DUKE is a privately owned Dutch company with a long and colourful history, established in 1897 by the great grandfather of the current owners who was a blacksmith in the nearby town of Alblasserdam. After having been active in the coffee machine business since 1958, the 110 year old family-owned company supplies machines to customers all over the world. Maurits JC de Jong: “By now we have become and are recognized as the specialists in table top machines and compact coffee-espresso machines for the office environment. Close cooperation with our customers allows us to continuously improve our equipment as well as making sure we supply the equipment that suits the customer as well as the consumer.”

Dynamic market

The coffee market is constantly changing and de Jong DUKE makes sure that the equipment is suitable for the various requirements. Maurits JC de Jong: “A strong trend towards espresso based drinks like cappuccino, latte and café au lait has been anticipated with the development of the CoEx® brewer, a patented brewing mechanism, which is also used in some configurations of the Virtu and Siro Touch.” The CoEx® brewer is unique as it can make a regular coffee with a low pressure and a real espresso using the required 9 to 15 bars of pressure. The design and engineering of both the brewer and the brewing mechanism ensures that the equipment is easy to clean and maintain. With an eye on developments in filter coffee, de Jong DUKE continues to manufacture the ‘good old’ filter coffee machines. Almost 40 years of experience in making equipment with the well known filter paper brewer gives customers the best of both worlds: a perfect filter coffee from a machine that simply works. This makes the versatile Virtu and Siro Touch machines in all their variations extremely user friendly which is very well appreciated in a market which requires both ease of use and choice.

Communication

With information and communication becoming more and more important throughout the world it is clear that coffee and espresso machines must not be excluded from the trend to inform consumers and other users about a wide variety of things. The Virtu and Siro Touch are tailored to this need with full colour displays. Both machines can be set to show pictures in standby mode as well as during the preparation of the drink. This feature allows customers and consumers to inform the users of the machines about their drink, its origin, the used ingredients as well as other things like company news, advertisements, new offerings and many more. The software enables customers to upload their information and images through USB making it easy to customize the machine to the users’ wishes. When possible the machine will be able to be connected to the internet in the near future. This will not only allow RSS feeds but also creates a increased flexibility and possibilities.

Sustainability

Sustainability is a continuing trend which is becoming more and more important in various industries. In OCS and vending, subjects like recycling and energy consumption are becoming increasingly relevant. De Jong: "Our current equipment is energy efficient and can be set to lower use of energy if circumstances allow. We are also looking at the production of the machines. If we can lower the impact on the environment by changing the way we do things we’ll look for a way to achieve this. We are also very proud to be the first manufacturer who has complete data on the use of materials and the recyclability of our machines. We even have information on what percentage of the materials used is already made from recycled material as our customers are increasingly being asked these things. We are constantly working on this to make sure our customers stay ahead of these developments.”

Doing better together

By working closely with their customers de Jong DUKE ensure that the machines are matching consumers’ needs. Time is spent with experts, research institutes, coffee roasters and ingredient specialists to create optimal conditions and recipes to create a quality drink from both the fresh filter single cup brewers as well as from the bean2cup equipment. The full colour touch screen on the Virtu and Siro Touch and the open as well as flexible MoVeC ICEQ software allow customers and consumers to communicate not only that the drink is being prepared to their requirements but also information on what they are about to enjoy.
