Nestlé Fawdon plants a new butterfly meadow
Published:  21 June, 2011

Nestlé Fawdon has announced the development of a butterfly meadow, set in its factory grounds, designed to encourage indigenous wildlife back to the area. The butterfly sanctuary, situated at Nestlé’s Newcastle site, was created with the assistance of its employees and their families.

The garden will help to see the reintroduction of a wild flower meadow in the hopes of attracting various species of butterflies to the grounds, including Small Copper, Wall Brown and Meadow Brown.

The Fawdon employees are aiming to log the butterfly population on a daily basis for the local Wildlife Trust, as part of a campaign to gauge butterfly numbers.
