Published:  10 February, 2011

Selecta, one of the UK and Ireland’s leading vending services providers, is celebrating another year of charitable giving through its Selecta in the Community scheme which has provided a helping hand for a host of good causes in 2010.

The community-based scheme was set up in 2007 and provides financial support for projects, initiatives and charities with a personal connection to Selecta’s employees in the UK, has supported 12 projects this year.

Selecta in the Community provided funds for new toys and equipment for Alder Hey children’s hospital in Liverpool and also donated money towards a new intensive care cot at Frimley Park Hospital.

Funds were provided to East Midlands Dog Rescue while Parley and Pagel, a charity for parents and families with terminally ill children, was given money towards a trip to France for a well-earned break.

Among other beneficiaries were Project 65, which cares and supports wounded armed forces personnel and bereaved families, and Saltley Neighbourhood Pensioners Centre: which was given money to help run the centre.

Jonathan Barr, Sales & Marketing Director, Selecta UK, said: “As part of our sustainable approach, we are committed to helping communities through supporting a range of good causes. The scheme gives all Selecta employees the opportunity to apply for funding for charity and community projects which they are involved with. I am delighted to see that it is continuing to make a difference to the lives of so many people who need a helping hand.”
