AVA recently conducted a successful trial of the first in a series of training courses for vending engineers. The first course focused on drink vending's principal raw material - water. By ensuring that engineers had an in-depth knowledge of issues such as drink quality, scale, water regulations and microbiology the service they offer to vending specifiers can continue to increase in quality.
Engineers' training is the first in a series of initiatives embarked upon by the AVA Technical Committee under the chairmanship of Chris Skipper, NVCS Ltd. The committee recognised the machine specific training offered by manufacturers but identified a lack of engineer specific training in areas such as water, hygiene, environmental issues etc.
Spearheaded by Jason Barnes, LTT Vending, the first course, Water and Hygiene for Engineers, involved engineers from LTT Vending, Refreshment Systems and NVCS. Such was the demand that on day one two sessions of the two hour course, covering Machine Installation, Water Regulations, Bacteria, Water Contamination and Drink Quality were required and enthusiastically greeted by the engineers.
NIVO's Graham Kingaby was actively supportive providing accommodation at the NIVO headquarters for AVS's Mike Saltmarsh, Steve Collins and Simon Hill to conduct the course which is now available to all AVA Members. The course fee is just £25 plus VAT - minimum of 10 participants required.
