Espresso machine manufacturer sails in for 2012
Published:  03 April, 2009

Fracino, the UK's only manufacturer of coffee and espresso machines, has supplied the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy - host of the 2012 sailing events - with a Cybercino coffee machine.

The centre is the first major venue to be completed for 2012, and Fracino's state-of-the-art Cybercino is the coffee machine of choice for the Academy.

Based near Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay, offering some of the best small boat sailing waters on the planet, the Academy provided training facilities for the 2008 medal winning heroes, helping them to achieve an overall medal haul of four golds, one silver and one bronze.

The Cybercino, which produces espresso, cappuccino and latte drinks at the touch of a button, will take pride of place attached to the venue's scenic Spinnakers restaurant. The innovative machine recently scooped a prestigious national award for its mix of the latest technology and classic styling.

Chief Executive of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, John Tweed, said: "The Academy is a key UK venue to developing world class medal winning sailors and we choose to use the British-built Fracino coffee and espresso machine which is available to all sailors and visitors."

As well as providing a training base for Britain's medal hopes, the Academy works with the local community to provide opportunities for young and disabled people to participate in sailing, as well as generating 180 jobs and £10 million for the local community.

Adrian Maxwell, MD of Birmingham-based Fracino, said: "Team GB's success in China was a real source of national pride and we are excited that our award-winning coffee machine is being used by Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy, the 2012 sailing venue. This is a great endorsement of British engineering."
