    On Wednesday 23 November 2011, as part of his last tour as Executive Chairman of Associated Vending Services, Brian Tustain visited the new Barry-Callebaut Vending UK Ltd premises in Lea Green St Helens. The association between Fekade Zewde and Brian - pictured - is one stretching back to the earliest days of the AVS Group of companies.

  • The EVA end-of-year event

    The EVA’s 2011 AGM and Workshop on: “European Vending – Understanding current market issues and trends” will take place on 12 & 13 December, in Brussels. This year is an election year for the EVA Presidency and its Executive Committee. For this reason, the EVA is expecting a larger-than usual turnout of its membership at the Annual General Assembly on 12 December.

    Katharina C. Hamma (45) has been appointed to the Koelnmesse management team. As the Chief Operating Officer (COO), she will be responsible for the operations of the entire trade fair programme in Cologne, as well as for the company's sales, communications and services. About half of Koelnmesse’s approximately 500 employees work in these areas.

    Esselte, one of the worlds leading manufacturers of office products, has appointed transport specialist Rhys Davies Freight Logistics to deliver its products to wholesale customers and dealers throughout the UK and Ireland. Rhys Davies won the contract in the face of stiff competition from four other companies approached by Esselte to tender for the work.

    The catering and hospitality industry is only just beginning to get to grips with new mandatory responsibilities for operators of refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, following the implementation of the F-Gas Regulation. The legislation came into force on July 4, 2011, and is part of a European-wide push to reduce emissions of HFCs, potent Global Warming gases in widespread use as refrigerants in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Golf was laid on by the irrepressible Paul Howard and an Agatha Christie trip by Richard Brinsley.
