Jofemar improves BT10 banknote reader
Published:  19 March, 2009

Jofemar UK, an arm of the Spanish vending machine manufacturer, has added new software to its BT10 banknote reader, which puts it among the most reliable bill readers available on the market.

The BT10 is a versatile and compact unit that fits neatly into vending machines. Its upward or downward stacker operation allows it to be fitted into the machine upright or inverted. It is capable of recognising 24 banknote positions (i.e. six different notes offered to the unit in four different orientations - face, obverse, and both ends). It may be programmed to accept banknotes from two different currencies, Sterling and Euro, for example. Four optical sensors, one magnetic sensor and advanced analysis software assure seamless identification of legal banknotes. Upon insertion, each note in turn is held in escrow, and returned in the case of a failed transaction, obviating the need for the unnecessary refund in coins.

The BT10 is offered with the choice of two different sized, interchangeable cashboxes, with a capacity respectively of either 210 or 500 notes. Whichever model is selected, each cashbox is equipped with a sturdy lock for extra security, a feature not found on some manufacturers' models.

MDB protocol

The unit is compatible with MDB protocol for vending machines or 12 volt validator connection with pulse delivery. Changing the programme to introduce new banknote or invalidate old ones is simply performed with PC-based software which is included. The BT10 may be readily connected to the Jofemar J2000, which is well accepted as one of the most versatile and advanced changegivers on the market.

Managing Director of Jofemar UK, Vassilis Gotsis, described the BT10 as one of the most advanced bill readers available anywhere in Europe. "The technical thinking that has gone into this latest version of the BT10 is really very impressive. It is one of the most secure models on the market and we believe that its modest price will appeal to a wide cross-section of operators. There can be little doubt that pound for pound it represents the best value on the market."
