Fed up with slow soup sales in its machines, Neville Thompson Managing Director of Lincolnshire-based vending operator Elite Vending, replaced the soup with Caprimo® Café Vanille - a strategy which has led to increased sales and reduced maintenance costs.
Elite Vending Services operates more than 200 machines around Lincolnshire. Neville Thompson replaced the slow-selling soup with Caprimo Café Vanille in around 70 of them. Sales have since far exceeded his expectations and it has sold considerably more than the soup it replaced. "In addition," says Neville, "Café Vanille has led to reduced maintenance costs as it does not clog up the pipes in the vending machines in the way that soup has."
Neville Thompson opted for Café Vanille for its creamy, authentic flavour; ease of use - it is an all-in-one product requiring only one canister; and it is a modern, fashionable brand. Only branding with the buttons provided by Barry Callebaut was needed for a successful launch.
Even with no additional marketing, the product proved instantly popular with consumers, to the extent where Café Vanille has now replaced soup as default choice in Elite Vending's machines. From a consumer perspective, Neville says that the drink increases the selection without compromising on taste or quality, and its unusual flavour and frothy consistency have proved a resounding success.
