New Cup Manufacturers' Committee
Published:  14 August, 2008

A new Cup Manufacturers Committee is being established by the EVA to develop a common vending industry message to the authorities, press and consumers regarding disposable vending cups. In order to do that, the EVA is bringing together market leaders in this activity, including Hühtamaki, RPC-Tedeco Gizeh, FLO and Veriplast, and approaching other market players so as to have as broad a  representation as possible.

The need for this committee has been prompted by the momentum gathered by the environmental policy and the requirement to counter-balance some of the claims that are being made by NGO's and echoed by the press, that lie at the basis of these policies. It is also to raise awareness of stakeholders that the vending industry and disposables manufacturers are responsible organisations that have taken steps to protect the environment, and promote these initiatives.

The inaugural meeting took place in Brussels at the end of July with the cup manufacturers only, but the next meetings will be open to National Association representatives and to any other vending segment representatives who would like to join. The participation of operators would be particularly welcomed.
