Water, Water, Everywhere...
Published:  10 July, 2008

Over the last two years usage of bottled water in the UK has increased, despite a poor summer in 2007, but growth in consumption is projected at 3.4 per cent for 2008, with a rise to 4 per cent in 2012, due to the London Olympics. Any negative influences during 2007 were negated by an increased acceptability of water as a real alternative to soft drinks and the increase in consumption of pack formats designed for consumption of water on the move(1).

The human body is 70 per cent water and the average British body loses around 21¼2 litres of water per day. Whilst some of this loss is replaced by eating foods containing liquid, we still need to drink up to 2 litres of liquid a day as all this water loss can affect brain function, nerve impulses, the transportation of oxygen and nutrients around the body, general well-being, temperature regulation, skin elasticity and the removal of toxins and waste from our bodies.

Rehydration

Consumers are now more health-aware than ever and understand the importance of hydration within a healthy diet. Abbey Well Natural Mineral Water's PET range covers a wide spectrum of sizes for all consumption occasions so you can offer your customers a simple purchase solution to hydration throughout the day. Abbey Well Natural Mineral Water is available in 250ml to 2lt and its unique 250ml bottle is in a class of its own as it is the only bottle that will vend in a standard can vendor without adaptation.

Tap or bottled?

"The choice has always been there and it's right that the consumer has that choice", says Tony Robson, Managing Director, Abbey Well. "It's really down to whether the consumer prefers to drink water which is made safe to drink by nature or by chemicals. And to reduce water miles, make sure you offer British water; Abbey Well is bottled at source in the Northumbrian hills so we can all look after the planet as well as our bodies.
