"We need to be top of our game," says Mike Kane
Published:  18 June, 2008

"When it comes to snack and confectionery vending, the end-user can be a discerning creature", claims Mike Kane, Sales and Marketing Director at N&W.

"Currently, the UK vending world has to be all things to all people, and we all want the same thing, quick, accessible and desirable products. Yet as the market is so diverse, we, as a manufacturer, have to be top of our game to make ours the machine of choice to optimize turnover.

"At N&W we have the widest range of machines in the industry, which means the operators can cherry-pick their machines for each specific site to fulfill their own parameters for their products. This enables them to optimize the use of space and the turnover of each spiral to fit, it's no longer a case of one size fits all, ultimately giving the end user exactly what they're looking for, and it's this versatility that gives operators the chance to maximize sales.

"Looking at individual machines, the popularity of N&W's Snakky machine has been phenomenal. According to our market intelligence, we estimate that more than a third of all spiral machines placed in the UK is a Snakky.

"Reaching that type of market saturation is no fluke, and the ubiquitous Snakky was re-styled at the end of last year when we launched the Snakky RY.

"Snakky RY now benefits from improved aesthetics, but perhaps more importantly the new temperature control system and improved security features with reinforced programmable locking system. By adding on Snakky SL's operators can also maximize profits by saving on the cost and space of a coin mechanism.

"Snakky RY was the first snack vending machine by N&W that is only 1700mm tall, making it perfect for smaller locations. It also comes with features such as an ergonomic delivery bin with anti theft device, slow closing movement and vend detection system. We have found that operators can also cut down on maintenance due to the single block slide-in/out cooling unit and new wire type condenser.

"The payment system and electronic board are located inside a separate slide-out compartment, which means that the product temperature is maintained when operators and technicians work in this area.

"We're now seeing a new phase in the Snakky RY's life, yet by continually measuring performance, and by pioneering engineering and technological advances we can pass on those benefits to the operators".
