Bigger profit bite with new coffee and doughnut project
Published:  18 June, 2008

A new coffee and doughnut concept from Country Choice offers a payback period of as little as just three months, allowing operators to capitalise both on the success of the £1.3 billion hot beverages market plus the one in three adults who regularly buy doughnuts.

The self-service Country Choice concept, under the Bake & Bite brand, is an ideal add-on to an existing hot drinks operation, providing not only a profitable cup of freshly ground Fairtrade Arabica coffee but also a fresh-baked doughnut to increase customer spend by 20 to 30 per cent.

The easy-to-clean, easy-to-operate free-standing unit, with display lighting, holds a bean-to-cup coffee brewer with pre-programmed settings that produces up to 100 cups of coffee per day. It can also produce a cup of Tetley tea or Nescafé Aero Hot Chocolate to suit all tastes. No plumbing, drainage or wiring is needed, and the integrated milk cooler ensures fresh milk every time. A branded cup and lid dispenser, plus condiment holder and Bake & Bite bags and napkins, add to the professional look, keeping the display tidy.

Up to 48 thaw and serve doughnuts can be displayed alongside the coffee machine, and the range includes 12 varieties, including decorated doughnuts, iced and topped with sugar or chocolate sprinkles; flavoured doughnuts topped with flavoured icing; doughnuts filled and decorated with jam, chocolate or vanilla creme; bite size doughnuts, sugared or iced and chocolate topped; and traditional sugared doughnuts. Storage and defrosting space is included within the self-contained unit.

The self-service concept is ideal for traditional takeaway outlets, but is also suited to anywhere where there is a high volume of passing traffic such as hospitals, supermarkets and garden centres.

Country Choice is confident that retailers will recoup the costs of the coffee and doughnut concept in as little as three months, or by selling just four cups a day on a lease agreement.
