WestWays' winning ways with Kbar
Published:  16 May, 2008

Following the installation of six Kenco Sustainable Development Kbar machines at Family Investments Brighton, employees are really enjoying their new hot drinks services.

The Kenco Kbar machines serve a range of Kenco Sustainable Development bean-to-cup coffees and other branded in-cup drinks, replacing traditional post-mix vending systems, which served only soluble coffee and other non-branded beverages.  The new systems were installed and are operated by Kenco Local Business Service Association member, WestWays Vending.

Consumer research conducted by Kenco and WestWays Vending amongst 121 Family Investment employees highlights the positive impact the new equipment, drinks and service have made.

The research statistics paint a positive picture:

  • 92 per cent rated the choice of drinks as good or excellent
  • 90 per cent considered the cups to be good or excellent
  • 89 per cent described the system as good or excellent in terms of ‘ease of use'
  • 86 per cent rated the machine as good or excellent in terms of appearance
  • 78 per cent reported the quality of drinks as good or excellent
  • 53 per cent of consumers claimed that ethically sourced positioning increased their usage of the system.
Positive impact

Westways' client chose Kenco Sustainable Development Kbar machines because they provide ‘great quality and choice' through a reliable system while also meeting the growing ethical concerns of their employees.

"Our staff are really  interested in the concept of sustainability and, as a result of the Kbar machine installation, we have provided further educational material to them on the work of the Rainforest Alliance," says Julian Wilkinson, Facilities Manager at Family Investments.

In the research conducted by Kenco and WestWays 53 per cent of consumers questioned said the ethically sourced offer did make them more likely to use the machines, while many users were extremely positive about the concept, even if it did not make a difference to their consumption of drinks.
