High volume bean-to-cup from Sielaff
Published:  16 May, 2008

Sielaff, the leading German manufacturer of quality hot beverage vendors and glass-fronted merchandisers, has improved its Sielissimo CVT bean-to-cup tabletop coffee and hot beverage machine with the option of a pot facility, which makes it ideal for high volume locations. The Sielissimo range comprises three tabletop versions, the CVT, the CIT with instant ingredients and the CFT fresh brew model. Each is now available in a high volume version in models marked with the -XL suffix. In common with the other two variants in the range, the new bean-to-cup model, CVT-XL incorporates advanced technology developed by Sielaff itself and already tried and tested in the market.

The XL version enables users to serve high quality coffee and tea by the pot as well as by the cup. While this facility will appeal particularly to hotels and restaurants, it is also very useful for workplace seminar rooms and meeting venues. The multi-function operator panel is factory-prepared for the installation of a cashless payment system.

Hi-tech features on the Sielissimo CVT-XL demonstrate a refreshing and innovative approach to hot drinks dispense. The grinder is Swiss-made and has precision grinding burrs for accurate adjustments. The brewer mechanism has been developed by Sielaff and made at its Herrieden factory in Bavaria. Unlike most brewers, it is made not from plastic but solid metal, making it extremely robust. Dosage may be programmed in any quantity from seven to 14 grammes and it has heat insulated mountings and special pistons which make a brewer heater unnecessary. Alternatively, the brewer may be programmed to brew fresh leaf tea.

Of great importance, particularly to operators, is the CVT's water system. Instead of the usual mechanical valves, which can cause so many scale-related problems, Sielaff has put in pinch valves and platinum strengthened hoses. Water is pumped using peristaltic pumps - the sort of precision technology you'd expect to find in a hospital operating theatre. Quite apart from improved accuracy, it means that the water is never in contact with the valve or the pump itself and, as the water never touches the moving parts, there can be no scale build-up. Constant water circulation from the boiler to valve ensures a hot drink is dispensed every time.

To prevent clogging and ‘bearding' caused by steam from the hot water boiler, the Sielissimo CVT tabletop machine is equipped with a high performance steam extraction system, which operates via stainless steel flow plates.

Commenting on the latest addition to the Sielissimo range, Sielaff UK General Manager, Karen Nash stresses the quality of the machine. "All the key components on the CVT-XL have been thought through from scratch and the factory has challenged established thinking at every stage to produce a machine that is truly different and built with the operator and end-user in mind. For the client, the best thing of all is that it produces excellent coffee be it by the cup or by the pot".
