Vending International
What in the world..?
Published:  16 May, 2008

The Worldwide Vending Association (WVA) was formed in 2006 to provide and protect the interests of vending on a global basis. WVA now speaks on behalf of 24 countries representing 20,000 companies operating some 10 million vending machines. Specifically, the objectives of WVA as written in its Statutes are to carry out the following activities:

  • To centralize and circulate information about issues of common interest.
  • To promote the exchange of information and experience between members.
  • To promote wide endorsement of global vending industry standards.
  • To promote and represent worldwide vending industry interests to third parties.
When and where decisions are made which concern the vending industry, WVA will be able to communicate the facts both to the industry and to decision makers. It will work to support the industry either directly or through member organizations with information and contacts to influence decisions that affect the industry.

Already the WVA has sent delegations to many trade shows and meetings. The association is particularly active with the Mint Directors organization and the World Health Organization and in monitoring the legislative agencies of the U.N.

Subjects that affect vending on a global basis include coinage, health and wellness, food labeling, refrigerant gases, currency design and validation, hygiene, environmental regulations, technical standards, and others that may arise.

The membership includes both full and supportive members. Full members are vending associations whose members are primarily active in the vending industry. Supportive membership is open to any corporation with activities in vending and any other organizations that support the purpose and aims of WVA.

It is encouraging to note the interest being shown for WVA in only our third year of operation. Full memberships have grown especially as associations see the benefits derived from sharing information. Companies that operate on a global basis are showing their support by joining an organization that truly speaks on a global basis for vending.

Lots of information about the WVA and some of our activities to date is available on our website. Supportive membership is certainly encouraged. The larger our membership, the more our influence will be with decision makers.

I have served on the Board of Directors since the establishment of the WVA and now serve as Chairman of the Board. I am available to discuss WVA activities and goals at any time. Please don't hesitate to call or email. We need our membership to grow in order to meet the objectives established. We need and ask for your help by joining if not already a member and/or by providing input to WVA. Our staff is great and Catherine Piana our CEO is a great spokesperson for the organization.
