New espresso range from Douwe Egberts
Published:  13 March, 2008

As the UK consumer becomes more coffee savvy, we are seeing an increased demand for high quality, premium coffees. Responding to this trend, Douwe Egberts has created the Espresso Collection, a range of premium espresso blends, that are available in 500g or 1kg (apart from the decaffeinated) bags.

The Espresso and espresso-based drinks category is currently the only coffee product area experiencing growth out of home, so it is an essential offering for anyone selling coffee.

The new Espresso Collection includes: Douwe Egberts Dark Roast Espresso - mainly premium Arabica beans from south and Central America, long roasted with a small quantity of Robusta to give a strong, deep coffee taste; Douwe Egberts Extra Dark Roast Espresso - with slightly higher Robusta content from the Dark Roast, producing a strong, intense coffee with a smooth, sweet and spicy aftertaste; Douwe Egberts Intense Roast Espresso - long and dark roasted, 100 per cent premium Arabica blend giving a smooth, velvety coffee with a well rounded taste, just the right amount of acidity and a clean aftertaste; and Douwe Egberts Decaffeinated Espresso - mainly premium Arabica beans from south and Central America with a small quantity of Robusta, offering a strong, round taste.

Good Origin

In response to the growing demand for sustainability in the coffee market, Douwe Egberts has introduced Good Origin, a 100 per cent certified sustainable coffee for all types of equipment solutions. Good Origin is Utz Certified, a global non-

governmental organisation which guarantees the coffee produced was made with respect of the living conditions of coffee farmers and the natural environment. Farmers are encouraged to embrace, and are assisted to adopt, better production methods. Utz Certified enables farmers to command a better price for their coffee.

Good Origin fits in perfectly with the emerging trend, provenance, where consumers want to know where their product comes from. Good Origin can be traced back to the country and farm from which it originated, via a simple look-up system available on Douwe Egberts' website. This unique traceability connects you directly with the farmer; allowing you to read the story behind the coffee, identifying the farm in which it was sourced from and schemes in place that directly supports those farms, their workers and the local environment.
