Jofemar UK, the UK arm of the Spanish vending machine manufacturer, has improved its BT10 banknote reader with the addition of new software which, it is claimed, puts it among the most reliable bill readers on the market.
The BT10 is a versatile and compact unit that fits neatly into vending machines. Its upward or downward stacker operation allows it to be fitted into the machine upright or inverted. It is capable of recognising 24 banknote ‘positions' (ie six different notes offered to the unit in four different orientations - face, obverse, and both ends).
The unit can be programmed to accept banknotes from two different currencies, Sterling and Euros, for example. Four optical sensors, one magnetic sensor and advanced analysis software assure seamless identification of legal banknotes. Upon insertion each note in turn is held in escrow, and returned in the case of a failed transaction, obviating the need for the unnecessary refund in coins.
The BT10 is offered with a choice of two, interchangeable cashboxes, with capacities of either 210 or 500 notes, each equipped with a sturdy lock for extra security, a feature not found on some manufacturers' models.
The BT10 is compatible with MDB protocol for vending machines or 12 volt validator connection with pulse delivery. Changing the programme to introduce a new banknote or invalidate old ones is simply performed with PC-based software which is included. The BT10 may be readily connected to the Jofemar J2000, accepted as one of the most versatile and advanced changegivers on the market.
General Manager of Jofemar UK, Peter Smith, described the BT10 as: "One of the most advanced bill readers available anywhere in Europe. The technical thinking that has gone into this latest version is very impressive. It is one of the most secure models available and we believe that its modest price will appeal to a wide cross-section of operators. There can be little doubt that pound- for- pound it represents the best value on the market."
The BT10 is one of a range of Jofemar payment systems that also includes coin mechanisms, validators and cashless systems.
