Vending International
New chairman for WVA
Published:  13 March, 2008

The Worldwide Vending Association (WVA) is under new leadership. Eddie Hicks (pictured), a vastly experienced American vending operator, will lead the global vending organisation for the coming two years. He takes over from Augusto Garulli, who has been the Chairman since 2006.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the position - more than 20 years as an operator - and having served in key positions since 1993 on the board of directors of the National Automatic Merchandising Association (NAMA),  becoming NAMA Chairman in 1999, as well as serving on the WVA board of directors since its establishment in 2006, the new WVA chairman's expertise will be a great asset to the worldwide vending community.

Eddie is no newcomer to the role of Chairman (chairing various committees such as the Food Safety Advisory Committee of the New York State Department of Health and the NAMA Ethics Committee), which will be an added benefit to the WVA when facing current and future regulatory hurdles around the globe.

"The Worldwide Vending Association was formed to promote the interests of the vending industry on a global basis", says Eddie. "It has been encouraging for me to see the progress that the association has made since 2006.  Industry concerns that overlap various countries can best be addressed by the coordinated efforts of WVA and those efforts are now being made and producing results.

"I now look forward to serving as chairman of the association in 2008-2009 and will devote my efforts to continuing WVA's efforts to identify and act on industry concerns of a global nature.  One of our major efforts will be to increase our membership in order to be even more representative as an organisation benefitting the worldwide vending community."
