Confectionery continues to provide retailers with excellent sales opportunities in 2008. The Confectionery market - valued at £4.5 billion, accounts for 70% of the total value of the £6.4 billion Sweet Snacks market.

Mars UK holds a 28% share of the chocolate market and throughout 2007 was the only major confectionery manufacturer in growth with a +1.4% share point gain.

Mars' policy of investing in fewer, but bigger and better promotional activities has been very successful in driving incremental sales.

Phenomenal - Mars Planets

As market leader of the Bitesize category Mars invested heavily in the category throughout 2007. The launch of MARS PLANETS has been phenomenally successful and is the biggest singles launch in the past three years. MARS PLANETS has generated over £15 million worth of incremental sales to the Bitesize category since its launch.

Star performer - Galaxy
