Disposables have become indispensable to the foodservice industry but the downside is the millions of tonnes of resultant waste that is either dumped in landfills or incinerated, creating atmospheric pollution.
Fortunately, there is a way to ensure your use of disposables has the lowest possible impact on the environment and that's by choosing biodegradable GoodLife disposables from Cap-It-All. The GoodLife range comprises a comprehensive range of both moulded fibre and clear Polylactic (PLA) disposables. Although made from different raw materials, both ranges offer unrivalled environmental credentials.
GoodLife moulded fibre disposables are made from 96% renewable fibres (fast growing reed or sugar cane) and 4% water, and degrade in a matter of weeks when composted in soil, water or with garbage. GoodLife moulded fibre products are also produced in an environmentally friendly way. The manufacturing process employs gas-generated steam and all water used is recycled. Sealing of the products is by press, and so avoids emissions.
GoodLife PLA disposables are made from corn starch and, with the right combination of moisture, oxygen, fertiliser and temperature, compost in around 50 days. What is more, GoodLife PLA disposables are also non-toxic if incinerated.
Even on the rare occasion when it may be impossible to dispose of GoodLife products in the correct way, both the moulded fibre and PLA products will break down anaerobically in landfill in a matter of months.
Cap-It-All was one of the first companies to launch biodegradable disposables in the UK, and it has continued to invest significantly in the brand to ensure it remains at the head of the pack.
