Zenith International started the new year by celebrating its certification under the ISO 14001 worldwide standard for environmental management systems. This adds to its ISO 9001 accreditation for quality management systems in 2000.
"Zenith provides numerous environmental services - from environmental impact assessments to advice on reducing carbon footprints - but we also have to show good stewardship of our own business," commented Zenith Chairman Richard Hall.
ISO 14001 certification has been adopted by over 100 countries and is a prestigious scheme that is increasingly being sought by government and businesses in selecting suppliers. Although introduced many years ago, under 1% of UK businesses have achieved ISO 14001 recognition so far.
"We have always been proud of the service we offer our clients and of our sensitivity to the environment in the way we conduct our activities," added Philip Coverdale, Zenith Operations Consulting Manager, who supervised the certification project. "Now this has been confirmed by outside experts."
Barbara Baird, who undertook the independent ISO 14001 assessment of Zenith, paid particular tribute to "the investment in people and training that enables Zenith International to provide an efficient and environmentally friendly service to its clients."
