Vending people like to socialize!
Published:  14 November, 2007

We’re partway through that time of year when we’re inundated with exhibitions - those directly involved with our core market and also those peripheral to the vending industry but again of tremendous importance in the interests of not missing out on new opportunities!

In this edition you can read my comments on both Eu’Vend and Leisure Industry Week while in November Nivex and KioskCom Europe are both offering further opportunities to view machinery, equipment and ingredients at first hand as well as socialize with your industry colleagues.

There’s still a lot of talk about virtual exhibitions, but we in the industry are a sociable bunch. How can we have fun and meet interesting people during the sales process if we are expected to view only online! The result of our web poll whilst writing this comment is currently standing at 100% for person-to-person contact, which says it all.

Speaking of web sites - www.carryonvending.co.uk has been launched this month and will no doubt set the cat amongst the pigeons on pricing.

This month’s cover story explains how technical developments have enabled one company to work with well-known manufacturers to bring us eye catching signs. Branding in vending is moving on - literally! I first met Rob Brady at AVEX earlier this year and have been keenly following his progress. Turn to pages 14 through to 17 to read more about the development, how it works and who’s taken it up.

This edition includes a update on cash handling equipment while, with water quality and filtration needs constantly under scrutiny, l have included an overview of the industry’s associations - who they are and what they represent. Finally, with the chilling thought of colder weather on the way, l thought a winter warmer would be welcome - indulgence drinks and hot chocolate perfections! The vaguely cocoa coloured watery fluid is long gone - competition in this beverage area will be strong this season.
