At your Service…
Published:  01 May, 2007

You are coming to AVEX to look at machines; you know what you have in mind and how you are going to pay for this but what after the deed?

If you are buying new you will receive a warranty but for how long and what will you be covered for? You have spent time deciding what will suit your needs and you know where you will be installing it and also should now have a idea on who will be your operator but what are you going to do about servicing?

“Servicing?” - you ask…

Everything that works mechanically needs a regular service (not just your car!). You are spending a lot of money on your equipment, you will need to look after it. If not you can leave yourself open to all types of problems and unnecessary costs.

Deciding on what type of service package you will need really depends on the age of machine purchased and whether you are covered with a manufacturer’s warranty. If the machine is not new then you will have to consider its age and your budget.

It’s worth a call to a service provider just to sound out what they can recommend and offer you regarding a service package; below are some ideas of what to expect:

  • A full maintenance contract covers parts, labour and a regular service schedule.
  • A call out patience contract will cover you as and when required.
  • Benefits of a contract cover
  • Regular service reports, a bit like your car’s handbook when stamped!
  • Gives you 24 hour response
  • Cater to different requirements
  • Leaves options for special packages
  • Keeps your machine(s) in working order
  • Saves on loss of revenue and face
  • And most important is carried out by qualified engineers
Refrigeration contracts work on a similar basis and often give the option of collection and delivery along with eco friendly end of life disposal.

The Service companies I spoke to were very busy - not surprising when you think how many vending machines and water coolers are installed in the UK!
