Fashion from recycled ringpulls
Published:  09 November, 2009

The latest must have fashion comes from a charity called Bottletop which has trained 33 people from their community project in Salvador, Brazil to make handbags using discarded ringpulls. The ringpulls are collected by the homeless who can earn £3 per kilogram - it takes 1,000 ringpulls and a day's work to make a bag.

The project produces a fine selection of handbags and also their latest product, the ring pull belt. Each bag and belt is handmade by linking hundreds of recycled ring pulls together in a crochet formation.

Exported to the UK, the bags retail for upwards of £30. If you'd like to know more, visit www.bottletop.org
