Published:  01 July, 2007

Britain’s largest single-site university, has awarded national vending operator, the Coffee Point Group, a five-year contract to supply and operate high quality vending services across the university.

With over 11,000 staff, and 35,000 students, Manchester University has a rich academic heritage. Between them, the Victoria University of Manchester and UMIST can lay claim to more than 22 Nobel Prize winners.

The University put their vending services out to tender, and after a competitive tendering process, involving nine other vending operators, the Coffee Point Group were awarded the contract to install 54 new hot and cold beverage, snack, bottle and food vending machines. The machines have been branded in Coffee Point’s “Caffe Carezza” livery and a number have been shop-fitted into specially built surrounds to complement their rest and relaxation areas.

Fairtrade and healthy options were vital for the University community and a wide range of these sought after products are offered through the machines including Fairtrade coffee and tea, chocolate bars, juices and other snacks as well as more traditional vending products to complement their existing catering services.

Commenting on the contract, Amanda McDonagh of the Coffee Point Group said: “We were thrilled with the contract and have been delighted with the way the machines and our service have been received by the students and teaching staff.”
