Vending International
Entertainment on the go now nationwide
Published:  02 September, 2009

Following a high profile launch back in October last year, PoP, the interactive vending machine for the 21st Century, now has a presence all over the UK, giving entertainment consumers more choice and the opportunity to purchase day or night.

Back at the launch phase, PoP machines could be found in VUE, Odeon and Empire cinemas and several David Lloyd gyms throughout the country. Now, under a year on from launch, the machine has been rolled out to 106 locations across the UK. New outlets that have come on board this year include, in the leisure sector, Bowlplex and Reel cinemas,  whilst new retail outlets include Spar supermarkets, and Gardiner Hoskins Homecentre as well as Westfield Shopping Centre.

PoP has always been about 24/7 convenience and the latest installations for Network Rail, cater perfectly to this. PoP launched three PoP machines in Manchester Piccadilly Station earlier this month. With 83,000 passengers moving through the station on a daily basis, the new PoP machines are attracting constant attraction. The next phase will see London stations Liverpool Street, London Bridge and Paddington launching machines, with other key stations in London and the UK to follow. It is the first time commuters and passengers in the UK will be able to purchase instant entertainment on the go, perhaps for the long journey ahead, or as a treat to take home and relax with after work.

The PoP team is now focusing attention on siting PoP in shopping malls, service stations and airports, to ensure the widest possible access to the machines for consumers.

It is expected that a further 90 machines will be installed in these types of locations over the next few months. No surprise really considering the entertainment solution PoP offers retailers - total entertainment management, fantastic return on floor space investment, no shrinkage for the site and the ability to retail 24/7.

For those who have not yet come across one of these hi-tech machines, PoP, a UK first, is a fun and interactive way of selling DVDs and Blu-ray direct to consumers 24/7 and this targeted country-wide roll out is already changing the face of entertainment retail within a drastically altering high-street.

With the sad demise of Woolworths and Zavvi, there are now 1,000 less entertainment retail outlets on the country's high streets and as a result less choice for the consumer.  PoP provides a new and innovative solution for entertainment retail for consumers and retailers alike, which sits comfortably alongside traditional entertainment retail.
