PepsiCo is to trial a new all-natural refrigeration system in its Pepsi-Cola vending machines in Washington DC, according to FoodWeek Online.
As a means of reducing its environmental footprint, PepsiCo said the test would help the company evaluate the performance and reliability of the new machines in a ‘real world' situation.
The new machines reportedly generate 12% less greenhouse gas emissions than the machines currently in use, and use carbon dioxide instead of hydrofluorocarbons as the refrigerant.
