Through innovation and superior coin security NRI has grown to be a leading figure in the payment solutions market. Last year the German-based manufacturer launched its innovative vending product line - coin changer, cashless payment systems and bill validators - which fall under the Currenza umbrella.
Throughout the intensive development work which has taken place at Buxtehude near Hamburg, NRI has enjoyed close collaboration with CashCode, the Canadian-based sister company which is also part of the Crane group. "We have worked very closely with CashCode", said Sales Manager Mark Simmons. "Their expertise in bill validation is a vital ingredient in what we have achieved."
Mark went on to point out that the interdependency of the two units which, along with coin dispensing equipment manufacturer Telequip, form the Crane Payment Solutions division of the US conglomerate, has become more beneficial as time goes on. "Nowadays manufacturers and OEMs find that a complete range of vending products helps them to improve their profitability and productivity as well as end-customer satisfaction by delivering proven state-of-the-art currency validation solutions".
NRI will focus on its new high performance coin changers, the Currenza c2 series. "Through a detailed ‘Voice of Customer' process we figured out how we could help manufactures and operators to improve their businesses - and reliable payout was summarized as one key aspect," pointed out Tobias Roitsch, Marketing Manager.
The end result is NRI's ‘Payout Redundancy Protection' (PRP) system - through three independent payout motors, using six tubes, in conjunction with intelligent tube configurations. PRP ensures that the Currenza c2 experiences maximum protection against payout issues - meaning that no sales are lost. In the unlikely case of a single motor failure, for example due to extremely damaged coins, the changer still has four tubes available - which, in conjunction with the c2 tube optimization feature, means less exact change situations and less service calls.
"In reality, the service technician has time to react because no sales are lost which results in lower operating costs and higher revenues at the machine", added Tobias.
After a successful launch to the UK industry last year, the c2 is now being specified by two major national vending operators for all of their coin changer needs. Positive feedback has shown that the flexible six- tube cassette, in combination with three independent payout motors, define a new industry standard in vending. "The six-tube cassette offers the maximum value of coins in a single coin changer on the market today," explained Nick Norris, UK and Overseas Technical Manager. "Because of its flexibility, real advantages are seen for both traditional vending situations and high value vend price applications. When used in conjunction with CashCode's bill validators, the c2 offers increased time periods between re-floating and minimises exact change situations."
Furthermore, the most reliable NRI Multi-Frequency coin validation technology and a tube measurement system working under every environmental condition ensure security and reliability. For even higher coin security, optional sensors observe the tubes as well as the validator unit at any time, giving maximum protection against coin theft. With an optional telemetry solution, the changer data can be sent directly back to the office - giving control over the changer anywhere at anytime.
"Crane Payment Solutions is ideally placed to provide complete payment solutions to the UK vending industry", explained Nick. "We have five well-established service partners across the UK and Northern Ireland which support the NRI and Cashcode product range".
Training on the NRI range can be provided at NRI's Tamworth office or at the customers' own premises.
"The key to the innovative Currenza product range is the security, reliability and flexibility for which NRI products are renowned," said Sales Director Carles Aleixandre. The NRI team had a busy time fulfilling increased demand in 2008 - not only in the German market but also for international vending applications. Looking ahead, however, he said the company intends to expand its global footprint, adding to the 50-plus distributors handling NRI products worldwide. He continued: "There is an objective within the company that every customer has to be treated as someone with one-off needs, and the aim is to find solutions to all of those individual requirements".
