Gearing up with Gatorade

Gatorade, the world’s most researched sports drink, is to help consumers Gear Up for 2009 with £1000 of sports kit to give away every day in a new on-pack promotion, designed to tap into consumers’ fitness resolutions in 2009 and to drive trial of Gatorade around this market opportunity.

Gatorade is helping people ‘Gear Up’ by giving them the chance to win all the kit they will need to achieve their sports and fitness goals in 2009. Whether they plan to try a new sport, improve performance or simply get fit, Gatorade has a £1000 prize bundle to get them up and running.

The great sporting prize packages will be tailored to suit the personal goals of each winner. For example, if the goal is to run marathon, Gatorade has £1000 worth of high performance top brand running equipment to help make sure they are on their way to doing just that.

Jonathan Gatward, Brand Director at Britvic said: “Gatorade’s ‘Gear Up’ promotion really ties into to the resolutions people make every year – be that running a marathon, taking up a new sport or simply going to the gym a bit more often. Gatorade is seizing this opportunity to help people make good on their New Year promises, driving brand awareness and excitement into the category which will benefit not only consumers, but our customers, too. We believe it will encourage new consumers into the category at this key time of year when exercise is on everyone’s agenda.”

To enter, consumers simply enter the 10 digit code on the Gatorade bottle onto the Gear Up section of www.gatorade.co.uk. A name is drawn once a day, every day for 90 days. Once registered, entrants will be able to view all the prizes and also access some great training tips, hydration advice and information from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI). Those not lucky enough to win the £1000 of gear will still receive training tips and nutrition advice.

Gatorade Brand Manager at PepsiCo, Arif Haq, commented: “At Gatorade we are committed to sport and are excited to be able to offer people the chance to either get into sport and get fit or improve their performance in a sport they love. The prize bundles are tailored to a wide variety of sports which means whatever the level and whatever the sport, we want to ensure people have everything they need to improve their performance and get active in 2009, with top tips and advice also available from the site.”
