Brita teams up with Harlequins

Brita is now providing Premiership Rugby Club London Harlequins with filtered water for all team training and match events.
With some four litres of water consumed by each team member on a typical training or match day, the project presented a range of challenges and Brita worked closely with the club to develop a bespoke solution to fill and refill reusable bottles with filtered water.  The use of refillable bottles ensures that the team can stay hydrated with quality filtered water when travelling for away matches or events.  The water filter solution is also being used to supply hospitality areas within the stadium.
The partnership makes a significant contribution to Harlequins’ ‘Go Green Programme’ and commitment to be carbon neutral by 2012. The new filtered water system provides an environmentally friendly solution to the high volume of water required to satisfy the club’s drinking water needs, and as each Brita filter cartridge is 100 per cent recyclable, there’s less waste, too.
Neal Jones, Brita Marketing Director comments: “When Harlequins approached us there were challenges to overcome in providing a solution which could filter large quantities of drinking water over a short period of time, while maintaining consistent water quality.  We have developed a filling station that provides Harlequins with great tasting water for all their needs.”
Harlequins CEO, Mark Evans added: “We are delighted to welcome Brita into the group of official sponsors and suppliers at Harlequins. We recognize that we have a responsibility to the local community and, as a business within the London Borough of Richmond-Upon-Thames, we need to play our part in helping to reduce our impact on the environment. We hope that we will be a good example to other businesses and individuals in the area.”
