The British Sandwich Awards have launched a quest to find the British Sandwich Designer of the Year with a £5k prize incentive.
The Sammies also known as The British Sandwich Industry Awards are looking for the ultimate sandwich.
The Sandwich Designer of the Year competition encourages those in the industry to create a tasty and innovative sandwich using key sponsor ingredients. The competition takes place through regional heats, culminating in a grand final to be named Sandwich Designer of the Year. This year is the first year where a £5,000 prize has been offered as a prize to the overall winner.
The Sammies recognise excellence in the all-important sandwich and food-to-go industry awarding everything from the best sandwich to the best sandwich packaging.
The awards include favourites like the BSA Sandwich Manufacturer and the Sandwich Marketing awards as well as a new award for Food to Go New Product Development.
Regional Heats will be held at venues throughout the country and the Grand Final will take place on 10th May 2018 at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel. Head Judge for the final will be celebrity chef Theo Randall.
The winner will be announced at The Sammies 2018 held that evening at the Royal Lancaster London Hotel. The evening will be hosted by comedian Dominic Holland and Theo Randall.
Contestants are asked to submit one recipe in a minimum of three categories and in each case, the recipes are required to showcase the sponsor’s product, together with other complimentary ingredients of their choice, making a creative, innovative and commercially viable sandwich. Recipes will need to be submitted by February 7, 2018.
